about the studio
Daniel Brito, Other Bad Habits creative director, was born in Quito, Ecuador in 1993. At age 18 he went to the United States to study industrial design at Savannah College of Art and Design. After graduating college he gathered industry experience in New York and Mexico City at studios like Harry Allen Design, Avandi,EWE and Esrawe.
After living 8 years abroad, Daniel decides to go back home and start a studio of his own. Other Bad Habits is then established in 2020, a few weeks before worldwide lockdowns went into effect due to the corona virus pandemic. Although this meant some early struggles it also defined the studio core values and vision.
Having spent months inside Daniel understood the significance of having a place you can call home now more than ever. It was not defined by the amount of space but by the meaning of the things inside. How it can express people personalities, what they are and what they want to be. Designing furniture and accessories with this is mind made the process behind the objects so much more important.
Other Bad Habits products are designed thinking how each piece would fit in different spaces and elevate the environment as a whole. How our products could add to the experience of being home alone as well as having gatherings. We dont think of designing stand alone objects that shine the most when they are isolated from other objects or even from human contact. We want to help create cozy spaces and be part of the life that happens inside homes with all its virtues and flaws.
